How We Prepare your Tip to Clay Works product Details Time
1. Choice of clay for project (Type, weight and texture)
2. Hand Wedging (Uniformity and strength) (5 minutes)
3. Throwing or Hand building- (Manipulation of a clay mass into a desired form (30 minutes to 2 hours)
4. Initial Drying Time (From Clay to a "Leather Hard" form) (On average 1-2 days)
5. Trimming of Leather hard clay forms (Removal of excess clay for a lighter, uniform product) (On average 10-30 minutes)
6. Carving of Leather hard clay forms (Surface texture prepared with carving tools) (On average 30 minutes to 2 weeks)
7. Final Clay form Drying Time- (From Clay to a "Greenware" form) (On average 1-3 weeks)
8. First Kiln firing (From Greenware to Bisqueware form) (10-12 hours)
9. Cooling of kiln (Cooling with patience) (10-12 hours)
10. Glazing- (Application of glaze to Bisqueware form) (30 minutes)
11. Drying - (Surface Glaze Drying of glazed Form) (1-3 days)

Created in 2019 Our journey begins with the origins of clay, a natural material that has been used for centuries to create beautiful and functional art. At Tip Top Clay Works, we infuse our passion and detail into every piece craft, ensuring that each creation reflects our dedication to quality, comfort and functionality. Our Team
Parker Dorr is the creative mind behind Tip Top Clay Works Website design and is our studio manager. He has years of experience with the many stages of clay and has a particular interest in hand building clay forms. Outside of the studio, Parker expresses his artistic talent in watercolor painting, graphite drawings, and intricate dioramas. Parker is frequently involved with his community theatre organizations and enjoys playing  roles that entertain the public.
Christopher Dorr is the founder of Tip Top Clay Works, where he blends his passion for pottery with his dedication to family. Chris's interest in ceramics began after a course at Gould Academy in 1988.  In addition to running Tip Top Clay Works, he practices endodontics at Brewer Dental Specialists and finds pleasure in the challenge of both art and health care. Christopher values time spent with his family and enjoys working alongside his sons, creating lasting memories while pursuing their shared interests.Â
